Hi again!!

Sorry. long time never post...too busy ok? Anyway, never mind. here is the experiment.

What is squshing the bottle?

You need:
An empty bottle. (best 1.5L) with cap
Hot water
Step 1:fill the bottle with hot water.

Step 2:After a few seconds, empty the water and put the cap at once.
What happens: At once you will see the bottle flatten lengthwise, as if two hands were squeezing it!

Why??:It is the work of air pressure again. The bottle beacause of the heat, have higher pressure than the pressure outside. The outer pressure than pushes the bottle.

To make up with it, I will post another experiment! How is that?

The effect of brine

You need:
Table salt
A large glass
An egg
A teaspoon
A dessert spoon
Water

Step one: Half fill the glass with water. Then, using the dessert spoon, carefully put the egg into the water.
What happens: The egg should sink. If it floats, it is a bad egg and use a new one.

Step two: Take the egg out of the water. Add 10 tablespoons of table salt, mix until it is dissolved. Now you have made brine.

Step three: now put the egg again.
Waht happens: The egg should float. If not, add more salt.

Step four: take the egg out of the water again. Slowy pour water into the glass until it is full.

Step five: Put the egg into the water again.

What happens: The egg remains suspended in the centre of the glass.

Why??: Because the egg is more dense than water, so it will sink. The egg is also less dense than salt water, or brine, so the egg will float.

Cool science experiments

Is air pressure powerful? If this is your question, the answer is YES! Air pressure is able to crush a can! If you don't belive, try this experiment:
Step 1: fill an empty drink can with water and boil it. ADULT GUIDENCE!
Step 2: fill an basin with ice cold water
Step 3: use an clamp to hold the drink can and put it upside down into the basin
What will happen: The can shoud be crushed!

As an example of varying pressures, a finger can be pressed against a wall without making any lasting impression; however, the same finger pushing a thumbtack can easily damage the wall. Although the force applied to the surface is the same, the thumbtack applies more pressure because the point concentrates that force into a smaller area. Pressure is transmitted to solid boundaries or across arbitrary sections of fluid normal to these boundaries or sections at every point. Unlike stress, pressure is defined as a scalar quantity.

Another example is of a common knife. If we try and cut a fruit with the flat side it obviously won't cut. But if we take the thin side, it will cut smoothly. The reason is, the flat side has a greater surface area and so it does not cut the fruit. When we take the thin side, the surface area is reduced and so it cuts the fruit easily and quickly. This shows one of the good effects of Pressure.
